Under the direct supervision of the Chief Wellness Officer, this position provides fitness instruction, markets and monitors personal and small group training, educates patrons on fitness and safety, and maintains a safe and enjoyable atmosphere for participants.
*Duties and Availability*
* Teaches scheduled classes, beginning and ending on time; providing adequate warm-up, exercises, stretching and cool down.
* Instructs patrons on effective workout methods, explains proper techniques, proper use of equipment, demonstrates exercises; identifies different muscle groups, and teaches appropriate methods to strengthen specific muscles; make suggestions and adaptations when necessary.
* Prepares music, routine and needed equipment before class time.
* Assists participants, answers questions, and maintains positive experience for all class participants.
* Evaluates clients’ needs and goals, designs individualized workout programs to meet those needs and goals, and tracks progress.
* Stays current and researches wellness trends.
* Completes all other duties as assigned by the Chief Wellness Officer.
*Requirements and Qualifications*
* Extraordinary interpersonal communication and the ability to interact well with the public is a must.
* Currently certified in CPR/First Aid/AED, be certified within 60 days of hire, or be certified at the next JAM hosted training, as directed/documented by the Chief Wellness Officer.
* Certified Instructor certification is required (ACE, AFFA, NETA, or Specialty Certification).
* Ability to guide and motivate clients.
* Ability to self-market and promote as clientele and workload will be determined by self-marketing and relationship building.
* Previous experience as a personal trainer or relevant role.
* Ability to work flexible hours.
