Seasonal Playground Attendent

*Job Description* The Playground Leader assists in conducting and leading outdoor recreational playgroundactivities.
*Essential Functions* • Assists in planning, leading and evaluating recreational activities in games, crafts, recreational sports, special events, special programs for children of all ages in a park setting • Encourages all the children to attend other Park programs as scheduled on the playground • Meets with Outdoor Recreation Supervisor to plan activities and accept assigned responsibilities in leading the activities • Accepts playground site assignments • Attends seasonal Employee Training Orientation and all weekly staff meetings • Records attendance in activities • Responsible for maintaining discipline among playground participants • Responsible for equipment and supplies to be maintained and used properly • Keeps accurate records of and turns in all monies collected daily • Reports irregularities and abnormal conditions on the playground/parks • Performs duties in accordance with the Park Department’s safety rules and operating regulations and practices • Reports all playground participant problems to Outdoor Recreation Supervisor *Qualifications* *Knowledge, Skills and Abilities* - • College degree or course work in Education, Recreation or a related field preferred • At least 16 years of age and have valid drivers license; • Must have good leadership, organizational and communication skills • Must be of impeccable moral and ethical character • A Standard First Aid Certificate is preferred *Physical Requirements* This position performs the majority of their job functions outside, candidates may be subject to inclement weather including heat and/ or rain.
The position requires frequent standing, and walking.
Applicants must be able to lift 25lbs.
